Our take Opinion

The founder of a hosting company raises what happens when a popular management or marketing framework fails despite sincere effort, and the standard reply is that the team simply applied it wrongly. For growth marketers, founders and first marketing hires, the piece shows a way to treat any imported playbook, from goal-setting systems to outbound sales splits to content programs, as something to trial and adjust rather than adopt wholesale. It fits most for a small team that can run a contained experiment for a quarter before asking the wider company to change how it works. The evidence is a single company's experience with one framework, plus a handful of recalled examples that are not tested here, so it shows the pattern of unfalsifiable advice rather than how often a given framework fits. It would also transfer poorly where a rollout cannot be piloted on one team, or where outside parties require a specific method.
